Some people think you just need money and a good idea to be an entrepreneur, but for you to achieve your goals effectively you need more than just that. Skills help us stay on the right track, be effective in our daily activities and have the “we made it” times everyone wishes for at work. To young entrepreneurs here are some of the skills you should have:

1.Good Communication

Communication is simply the ability to transfer information from one place to another. It can be using voice( vocally), written, visually or non verbally. You can measure your communication skills by how good you share information and how good it is received.

2.Time management

The ability to take control of how you manage the hours of your day is very important. As a young entrepreneur, if you are able to manage, plan and control your time well, and utilize your time in constructive activities for your business,  there is no doubt you shall accomplish your goals well and in time.

3.Networking

This ability to network is very important to your business. As a young entrepreneur, you need to be able to find, connect with others. It is an important skill to have as a young entrepreneur because it will help you maintain and build relationships with other people.

4.Listening

Listening is another skill you need to have as an entrepreneur, many state that listening is the key to good communication, while in communication many understand that if you can be able to tell people things in the right way, that’s good communication but you have to be able to listen to others if you want to have good communication skills.

5.SMART Goal setting

Everyone has something he/she wants to achieve in the future, but is your goal a SMART goal?

What do you mean by a SMART goal?

In business, SMART is defined as Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, and Time targeted. Yes, as a young entrepreneur, you must have SMART goals set ahead of you. Don’t just say I have put this goal in front and I will achieve it, yes you will, but let it be SMART.

6.Collaboration

The ability to work with others effectively on a shared goal is important as a young entrepreneur. Accepting the opinions and strengths of others as well as their weaknesses is what keeps the team strong. No one can rely on himself in everything. As an entrepreneur, you need to be able to collaborate with others, listen to them and work together.

7. StrategicThinking

According to the Oxford dictionary, a strategy is a plan of action designed to achieve a long-term or overall aim. You have to be able to know what you want to achieve and the way that you’ll achieve it. Meaning as a young entrepreneur you must come up with an effective and efficient plan to use for you to achieve your goals.
