The 3rd Edition of Miss Burundi comes with new innovations

Miss Burundi third edition was launched in Bujumbura. This cultural event showcases the beauty, cultural and intellectual potential of Burundian women. During the next four months, the event organizer “Burundi Event” will go through the process to choose the most beautiful girl in Burundi.

A campaign for potential candidates

In a press conference given by Burundi Event, it was stated that one among the innovations for this edition is an awareness campaign in schools and Universities for potential candidates. This campaign will be held in different province under theme: “Women’s entrepreneurship as a major asset of Burundi’s development”

Condition to be eligible

From March 1st to April 16th every Burundian girl aged 18-25 who desire to become the next Miss Burundi can apply if she meets these condition:

Be a Burundian, living in Burundi with intention to stay for the next 12 months. Are eligible girls in good shape with a minimum height of 1,65m.  The maximum weight for each candidate is set to 60kg. Each candidate must be able to speak French and Kirundi fluently.

Speaking to the press the organizers emphasized on the pertinence of Candidates’ project in the selection process and urged potential candidates to consider the proposed theme.

The rewards for the winners

After the casting set to be held from April 28th to 29th, the final competition will be in July 2018. Miss Burundi will be given a Toyota Ractis Car and a 4 acres plot of land in Gitega Capital city as a reward. Another gift will be given to two first candidates who will make to the final.

The impact of Miss Burundi

Since 2016, Miss Burundi each year work on various projects. In 2016 Miss Ange Bernice Ingabire led an awareness campaign to help children born with disabilities, through this project families, schools have been sensitized. She visited centers that care for the child with disabilities in Gitega, Makamba, and Bujumbura.

Miss Burundi 2017’s project was on promoting Burundi youth talents and project to boost the visibility of youth entrepreneurship.The work of Miss Burundi is available online via this website (jeunetalent.bi). Miss Burundi supported youth sensitization to participate in summer camps.

Beyond social oriented project Miss Burundi has served as an Ambassador for Burundian Culture and contributed to the visibility of Burundian beauty, notes Burundi event spokeperson.

Smart Burundi, Kenya Commercial Bank(KCB) are the premium sponsors of the event. First hour sponsors like Burundi Lotto and various local artist like Kigingi, Big Fizzo, Sat-b support actively Miss Burundi competition.

Praising the achievements of Miss Burundi event, the general director of Culture, Leonard Sinzinkayo noted the contribution of Miss Burundi in promoting Burundian beauties. He encouraged the organizers to move forward.
