The goal of the event

The Africa Start-Up Summit in partnership with Disrupt Africa will bring together stakeholders in the tech space across the continent in Kigali, on February 14-15 to explore opportunities and challenges within the ecosystem, while showcasing investment opportunities. The main objective of the event will be on encouraging collaboration, with the aim of promoting the development of Africa’s vibrant entrepreneurship and innovation ecosystem while connecting investors, corporates and startups.


Applications are open to African tech-enabled startups operating in any field. Entrepreneurs, Investors, Hubs and co-working spaces; Policymakers (entrepreneurship and innovation focused in particular), Corporates looking for ways to understand/maximize their presence in innovation and startup space; Industry bodies looking to engage with entrepreneurship community

Startups applying must also be less than five years old; have at least an MVP, ideally with existing traction; have raised less than US$1 million in external funding; and have a current “ask”.


The top 10 startups from around Africa will be given the chance to pitch their business live on stage to the audience of over 400 local and international decision-makers. Selected startups will also have the opportunity to attend the rest of the event, which features three Summits, and take part in the wide variety of workshops, discussions and networking sessions taking place over the three days.

Participation fees

Africa Tech Summit welcomes all start-ups to attend with reduced startup rates covering the entire three days, conference sessions, and workshops networking events and after party. They also have dedicated startup expo packages with space and delegate passes, to showcase relevant products and services to over 400 delegates in the expo hall. Applications’ deadline is January 11th, 2019. Only successful applicants will be contacted and all applicants must be able to present in person at Africa Startup Summit in Kigali on February 13-15. Applications are open here.
