The Burundi new Constitution approved through a Referendum, here are the results

The constitutional referendum took place in a calm general manner, across all the provinces of the country where the provisional results show that the “Yes” to the revision of the Constitution won over the “No”, found on the spot journalists from the print media deployed in synergy throughout Burundi.

These provisional results provided by CEPI (Independent Provincial Electoral Commissions) are detailed as follows:

Bujumbura Capital City

Of 457,681 registered, 421,964 voted, representing a participation rate of 83.9%. Yes: 224,052 or 53.09%; No: 85. 686 or 44%; Null: 6,174 or 1.5%; Abstentions: 6,052, or 1.4%

Bubanza

Out of 217 893 registered, 214 069 voted with a participation rate of 98.2%. Yes: 172,673 or 80.66%; No: 26,873 or 12.5%; Null: 8,488 or 3.9%; Abstentions: 6,035 or 2.8%.

Karusi

The total number of registrants is 245,835; the total number of voters is 239,616 and the participation rate is 97,47%. Yes: 200,232 or 83.76%; No: 22,936 or 9.57%; Null: 7104 or 2.96%; Abstentions: 9344 or 3.88%.

Rumonge

Of the 220,044 registered, 214,879 voted or 97.65%. Yes, 148,165 or 68.95%; No: 47,401 or 22.05%; Null: 5,034 ie 2.34%; Abstention: 13,279 or 6.1%

Rutana

Out of 196,231 registered, 186,728 voted, representing a participation rate of 95.15%. Yes: 116,016 or 62.13%; No: 41,744 or 22.35%; Null: 18,704 or 10.1%; Abstentions: 10.264 or 5.49%

Ngozi

Out of 381 081 registered, 352 830 voted, or 92.58%. Yes: 295,979 or 83.88%; No: 39,988 or 11.33%; Null: 13,683 or 3.12%; Absentions: 9,335 or 2.64%.

Makamba

Out of 270 744 registered, 249,460 voted, or 92.13%. Yes: 165,964 or 66.5%; No: 64192 or 25.27%; Abstentions: 10425 or 4.17%; Null: 9958 ie 3.99%.

Gitega

Out of a total of 412,545 registered voters in the referendum, 391,380 voted, representing a participation rate of 94.86%. Yes: 279,528 or 71, 42%; No: 85,688 or 21.89%; Abstentions 14,386 or 3.67%; Draws 11.778 or 3%.

Mwaro

Out of 143,430 registered, 134,926 voted, a participation rate of 94.7%. Yes: 83 206 or 61.67%; No: 37,482 or 27.78%; Null: 7657 or 5.67%; Abstain: 6465 or 4.79%.

Cibitoke

Out of 272,175 registered, 264,170 voted, a participation rate of 97,058%. Yes: 211,755 or 80.16%; No: 36,596 or 13.85%; Null: 9,348 or 3.54%, Abstentions: 6,471 or 2.45%.

Cankuzo

Of 143,054 registered, 136,796 voted, representing a participation rate of 95.2%. Yes: 96,073 or 70.23%; No: 27,746 or 20.28%; Null: 5,784 or 4.22%; Abstentions: 7,193 or 5.25% Muyinga: out of 345,750 registered voters, 335,730 voted, representing a participation rate of 97.1%. Yes: 273,441 or 81.4%; No: 36,850 or 10.9%; Abstentions: 10,724, or 3.9%; Draws: 14,295 or 4.2%

Kayanza

308,364 votes. Yes: 252,670 or 81.93%; No: 36,718 or 11.90%; Null: 10,673 or 3.46%; Abstentions: 8,300 or 2.69%.

Muramvya

Out of 166,221 registered users, 160,302 voted. Yes: 124,887 or 77.9%; No: 24,617 or 15.3%; Null: 5.179 or 3.2%; Abstentions: 5,619 or 3.5%.

Bururi

Out of 166,268 registered, 154,292 voted, representing a participation rate of 92.7%. Yes: 80,171 or 51.96%; No: 51,512 or 33.39%; Null: 13,190 ie 8.55%; Abstentions: 9,319 or 8.55%.

Rural Bujumbura

Out of 291,384 registered, 285,347 voted, a participation rate of 97.92%. Yes: 216,087 or 75.74%, No: 50,220 or 17.60%; Null: 12,610 or 4.4%; Abstentions: 6,430 or 2.25%.

Kirundo

Out of 318,092 registered, 314,364 voted, a turnout of 98.82%. Yes: 83.014%, No: 11.20%
