Chelsea football legend Didier Drogba from ivory coast announces his retirement in football.
Best known for his career at Chelsea, for whom he has scored more goals than any other foreign player and is currently the club’s fourth highest goal scorer of all time with a record of 164 goals in 381 games and 4 premier leagues and the championship league of 2012.
He was named African Footballer of the Year twice, in the years 2006 and 2009.
“After 20 years, I have decided to put an end to my playing career,” he said.
The 40 years old former professional player, had spent 18 months in the Phoenix Rising, a club that he co-owns.
“It is the best way to end, letting young players develop”
“To give something back to the game what’s the best way to finish as I have learned so much in the game”, said Drogba.

Didier Yves Drogba Tebily was born on 11 March 1978 in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, from a young 16 years mother.
He began playing football in a team at the age of 11 in France, but he did not have a professional career in football until the age of 23 when he was signed a contract in January 2002 by a French team named Guingamp.
He then moved to Marseille 18 months later where after a year he began the best phase of his football life in Chelsea on a £24 million move making him the most expensive Ivorian player in history.
In his starting season, he helped the team win the first league title in 50 years and the following year also won another premier league title.
With 100 goals in 2012, he became the first African player to have that record of premier league goals.
From 2012 to 2013, he played in Shanghai Shenhuah
In 2013 to 2014 he joined the Turkish club Galatasaray where he scored the winning goal in the finals of the 2013 Turkish Super Cup.
From July 2014 to 2015 he joined Chelsea again with a career record of 10 goals in 10 finals winning 10 trophies at club level.
From the year 2015 to 2016 he joined a Canadian club called Montreal Impact where he played 41 matches in 2 seasons, scoring 23 goals.
From 2017 to 2018 Didier Yves Drogba he joined the Phoenix Rising team becoming a player and co-owner of the team to today when he has finally retired.
Drogba has been referred to as the “ultimate big game player.”
