During the most disputed DR Congo elections of the December 30, the young candidate, Aminata Namasia, 25 years old, has been elected as a Member of the Parliament(MP) of the DR Congo government.
Aminata Namasia was elected a Member of Parliament in the parliamentary elections of December 30 in the electoral district of Bambesa in the province of Haut-Uele (Northeast). This constituency had only one seat to fill and had 21 candidates, including 16 men and 5 women, African Shapers reports.
As a member of the Congolese party for development, Aminata Namasia is, since January 28, 2019, second assistant to the president of the provisional bureau of the National Assembly.
It is in accordance with the constitution which stipulates that this office is chaired by the oldest member, assisted by the two youngest MPs.
The other young MP, Jackson Ausse Afingoto is 26, while the chairman of the interim board, Kyungu wa Kumwanza, is 80 years old, African Shapers reports.
Aminata Namasia has a degree in monetary economics since 2017, from the Faculty of Business Administration and Economics (FASE) of the Protestant University in Congo (UPC).
It is one of 50 women MPs elected out of 485 seats filled, waiting to fill the 15 others in March, according to the calendar of the Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI) of the DRC.
