Burundian John Chris Kavakure wins the World Gold Award at the 57th “World Selection of Beers, Waters and Soft Drinks”

At the 57th edition of the “World Selection 2018 of Beers, Waters and Soft Drinks” competition a jury composed of 70 international experts decided to award the “FLO58 beer” made by John Christian Kavakure the Word Gold Award 2018.

Announcing the news John Chris posted this message on his facebook wall :

It’s an honor, it’s a pride, it’s a pleasure. It is a representation of years of work and research. It is the result of long-term work and the sap that irrigates, it remains in one part of my life.What could be more sweet and pleasant to be than to be valued and rewarded by his work?

He reminded that the FLO58 was chosen as the official beer for the commemoration of the 60th anniversary of Expo58 in Brussels this year.

John Christian Kavakure is of Burundian origin. His taste for beer comes from his grandmother who made him a traditional sorghum-based African beer, a gluten-free cereal rich in protein and starch. John-Christian has worked in many breweries and in the industry nicknamed the BBB “It’s the Black, Brasseur-Belge he says, wherever I go, in meetings or conferences, I’m the only Black ” John Chris said in an Interview at RTBF.

43-year-old John Chris spent sleepless nights in her lab developing the ultra-secret recipes for various beers. Speaking to Belgium’s DH newspaper he said “My job is first of all to ensure the health of consumers, sugar has invaded our diet and promotes the onset of cardiovascular disease”,
