Kenya Airways to start daily flights to Mogadishu from 15th November.

Last week, Ethiopian Airlines had announced that it will resume its flights to Somalia after 41 years. Now Kenya Airways announced that starting from this Thursday, their airline will fly to Somalia, every day.

Overview:

Kenya Airways has announced that starting from the 15th of November 2018, with immediate effect, the airline company will start daily flights to Mogadishu. The flight services to Mogadishu will come to help the high demand of Somali travelers working in Kenya and Somalia requesting for ease of transport to facilitate their business and trade affairs.

The CEO of Kenya Airways states that this service will spur the commercial activities between the two countries.

The flights are scheduled to be one flight every day for seven days, and are as follows:

Flt No Origin Destination Departure Arrival

KQ 8562 NBO – MGQ 07:40 – 09:55

KQ 8563 MGQ – NBO 10:45 – 13:00

In the announcement they made, the daily services will begin this Thursday with immediate effect.

To Mogadishu specifically, Kenya Airways will fly 7 times a week using the Bombardier Dash 8 Q400.

According to the CEO of Kenya Airways, Sebastian Mikosz the new service aims to meet the growing travel demand by travelers, “the daily flight is aimed at meeting the growing travel demand by Somali travelers, government and non-government organization officials and a growing number of entrepreneurs from Kenya and around the region who are keen on seeking opportunities in the country,” he said.

This service comes as a result for the high demand of traders of the two countries and those that pass through Kenya to Somalia. It expected to help traders travel between the from Somalia to Kenya to ease business and commercial activities between the two countries.

The schedule:

The planes will depart from Kenya’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport at 07:40 AM and depart from Somalia’s Aden Adde International Airport in Mogadishu at 10:45 Am to be back in Nairobi at 1:00 pm.
