Marcus Rashford is in talks with Manchester United over a lucrative new contract which would see his wages doubled to more than £150,000 a week.
Marcus Rashford is in talks with Manchester United over a lucrative new contract as they move to secure the England striker’s long-term future and ward off interest from Europe’s elite clubs.
Rashford is out of contract at the end of next season, but while United have an option to extend that by 12 months to June 2021, negotiations over a new deal are underway.
After shielding the commitment of Anthony Martial, who would now have a weekly salary of nearly 230,000 euros, Manchester United would have initiated discussions about Marcus Rashford. Linked until June 2020 with the Red Devils (+ an additional year in option), the international striker would interest Real Madrid. But his priority would be to continue the adventure with Paul Pogba’s teammates. A report says that the number 10 could initiate a new lease of long duration with the training managed by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Rashford has been central to United’s resurgence under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, the caretaker manager, with six goals in his last 10 matches and a series of impressive performances underlining his status as one of Europe’s most exciting talents.
Rashford to be paid more than 150,000 euros per week
Rashford’s new contract could allow him to receive a salary of more than 150,000 euros per week (+ bonuses). Author of nine goals and seven assists this season in the Premier League, Marcus Rashford would like to register in the long run with Man Utd. In addition to negotiations with David de Gea, Mancunian leaders have proposed extensions to Ander Herrera (29), Juan Mata (30) and Ashley Young (33). Optimism would be appropriate for the former midfielder of Bilbao, but the situation would be a little more blurry for his teammates thirty.
Solskjaer: “Rashford doesn’t stop working”
“It was a great finish, said the Norwegian technician last weekend about the decisive goal of his protégé against Leicester City. Against a Schmeichel, you think of why not try to put him between the legs, but it’s a good finish. Marcus Rashford does not stop training, he plays a lot of games … He did not have his legs early in the game, but he finally did well, so congratulations! Good players make each other better, do not they? I can only explain this kind of goal by quality. When you have quality players, you get quality performance.”
