The British daily Sunday Times admits that it has documents showing payments of $ 880 million in total from Qatar to FIFA in its Sunday, March 10 edition to hold evidence of payments from Qatar to the International Football Federation (FIFA) to win the organization of the World Cup from 2022.
According to the Sunday Times, the Qatari-owned Al-Jazeera television channel made payments of $ 400 million and $ 480 million three years apart to win a secret deal on the broadcast of the meetings.
These alleged payments would have taken place 20 days after the designation of the host country and after the closure of the FIFA internal investigation to answer the accusations of corruption.
The contract included an unprecedented success fee of $100m that would be paid into a designated FIFA account only if Qatar was successful in the World Cup ballot in 2010.
In an e-mail to the Sunday Times in response to his questions, FIFA stated that “the allegations related to the FIFA World Cup 2022 have already been thoroughly commented by FIFA, which in June 2017, published in full the Garcia report on Fifa.com.”
