Saido Berahino, born August 4, 1993, in Bujumbura (Burundi), is an international Burundian soccer player who plays as an attacker in Stoke City.


Born in Burundi, Saido Berahino leaves his native country at the age of ten, in the middle of the civil war, to reach England where his family gets asylum before settling in Birmingham. In 2004, Berahino joined the West Bromwich Albion Academy.

Saido Berahino signed his first professional contract with the Baggies in 2011. He was then loaned for three months to Northampton Town, which plays in English D4, where he scored 6 goals in 15 games.

On February 9, 2012, he is on loan for three months in Brentford in English D3. He distinguished himself by scoring 4 goals in 8 league games.

On October 1, 2012, he is on loan for two months at Peterborough United in English D2.

On September 1, 2013, he made his Premier League debut in a match against Swansea City. Four weeks later, he scored his first Premier League goal against Manchester United (2-1 win) at Old Trafford and his goal allowed WBA to win its first game on the Mancunians’ field since 1978.

The following season, Saido Berahino won the lead at West Bromwich Albion.

Saido Berahino was transferred from West Bromwich Albion to Stoke City for 12 million pounds (13.86 million euros), to which can be added three million pounds of bonus.where he scored 7 goals in the first 11 days. In March 2015, he is the sixth best scorer in Premier League1. However, he scored only four goals in 31 games the following season. Very little used by Tony Pulis during the first part of the 2016-2017 season (four appearances in the Premier League between August 2016 and January 2017), he leaves his training club during the winter transfer market of January 2017. Possessing dual Anglo-Burundian nationality, Berahino decides to play for England. He is selected in all categories of youth and scored ten goals in twelve matches under the jersey of the England team hopes between 2013 and 2015. On November 6, 2014, he was summoned for the first time to the England team by Roy Hodgson3 but did not come into play. Approached by the Burundi Football Federation in 2015, Berahino finally opted for the Burundian selection in August 2018.
