University of British Columbia (Canada) is offering scholarships 2019/2020 for Sub-Saharan countries

Are you young graduate from the sub-Saharan African region? Do you want to study your masters in Canada? The University of British Columbia (UBC) based in Canada in partnership with the MasterCard Foundation provides every year undergraduates and graduates scholarship to students from sub-Saharan Africa in its program called The UBC MasterCard Foundation scholars program (MSFSP). This year, UBC will have more than 70 MasterCard Foundation Scholars.

The program gives chance to the young people who are academically talented and economically marginalized. It is given to the young people who have demonstrated an interest and commitment to return back to their community in order to enhance the economic and social development of Africa.

Selection criteria

To be eligible to the MasterCard Foundation scholars Masters’ degree, there are certain number conditions any applicant must accomplish.

S/HE must: have completed a bachelor’s degree, be a citizen of one of sub-Saharan countries or have lived there for a significant part of their time, present economically disadvantaged financial circumstances and to be able to show lack of financial means from family or other sources to pursue graduate education in their home country or elsewhere. He must also have achieved academic excellence under difficult circumstances and show leadership qualities or potential. He would be required to demonstrate an interest and commitment to going back to his/her home community in ways to enhance the economic growth and social development of Africa, through engagement in activities in their current profession, university or community. S/He must be applying for a Master’s degree in one of faculties and programs at UBC’s Vancouver campus. S/He must be a person who requires a Canadian study permit to study in Canada, commit to returning to Africa immediately after graduation from UBC.

Benefits from MasterCard foundation

The MasterCard Foundation Scholars program is a fully funded scholarship.  It covers all expenses associated with UBC tuition and housing and food. Each month, they receive a stipend to support their lives.

The deadline is generally fixed on November 9, 2018.

OTHER CONDITIONS
